Glue sticks! They come in fun colours and set hard to give a range of decorative effects.

Materials:
- A heatproof mat or unreactive flexible surface. A silicon baking mat or a sheet of plastic transparency film (for those old-style projectors) will do fine.
- Glue sticks of various colours.- Rough paper for drawing.- A pencil.
- A pair of scissors.- A glue gun that fits the glue sticks.

Chocolate rice/coloured rice/decorative sprinkles
1) Using glue gun, apply coloured glue sticks in a long thin line. As fine as you can manage and as "raised" as it can go.

2) Allow the glue to cool and set for at least 15 minutes.3) Peel the set glue off the flexible mat/transparency.

4) Cut/break the set glue lines into decorative "sprinkles" of desired length/size.

5) Repeat using different colours of glue sticks to give multi-coloured "sprinkles". Use "sprinkles" to decorate doughnut charms, fake food and other projects.

Candy/fun shapes
1) Draw the shape you desire on rough paper. (You can do it free-hand too.)

2) Place transparency film over the paper.

3) Using glue gun, apply coloured glue by tracing the shape you have drawn.
4) Allow the glue to cool and set for at least 15 minutes.

5) Peel the set glue shapes off the flexible mat/transparency.

6) Use glue shapes to decorate cupcake charms or as hard candy.

Chocolate/caramel squiggles for cake decoration
1) If specific shapes are required, draw them on rough paper. Squiggles can be done free-hand.

2) Using the glue gun, apply chocolate-brown / caramel-coloured glue sticks on transparency film/flexible mat.
3) Allow the glue to cool and set for at least 15 minutes until hard again.

4) Use squiggles to decorate your cake projects.

5) Semi-opaque caramel glue sticks can give the appearance of caramelised sugar decorations. Opaque light caramel glue sticks can give the appearance of toffee/milk caramel decorations.
