Mould/molds (whatever you want to call them).
In general . . .
1) Mix/colour clay to appropriate colour--some clay changes colour upon drying, so some trial and error may have to take place first.
2) Fill mold with clay and tamp it down.
3) Plastic molds are not for baking clay in. Remove clay from mold before any further treatment.
4) One method involves get the molded shape out with a needle-like tool. (Erm, I'm not fond of that method . . . it doesn't yield very good results for me as I usually need all surfaces nearly as perfect as I can manage.)
5) My favourite method involves taking another lump of clay and getting it to stick to the molded shape in order to lift it out of the mold. Use a drier, less sticky piece of clay for lifting if possible.
6) Another method (not recommended) involves allowing the clay to dry for 24 hours before attempting to extract it from the mold. Not for the less patient as it may take more than 24 hours for proper drying and shrinking to take place for certain brands of clay. Also does not work so well for more detailed moulds like cookies with fine detailing. The worst part is the clay might get stuck in your mold. 7) Allow molded shape to dry if using air-dried clay or bake if using certain brands of polymer clay. Shrinkage may occur depending on the clay used.
